"Grameen Udhyami" is a unique multi-skilling project funded by the National Skill Development Corporation that aims to skill tribal youth across India to enable them to create a perennial stream of income without having to migrate to urban areas. This project is being implemented in select tribal districts of Madhya Pradesh, Jharkhand, and Gujarat.
Drawing from the District Skill Development Plans, job roles have been selected to boost the tribal economy and satisfy the demand of the workforce and entrepreneurs within districts. While there is a focus on agriculture, fisheries, and forest-related roles to suit the local demand, skilling will also be done in upcoming sectors like construction, food processing, handicraft, healthcare, BFSI, and IT-ITES.
Implementation Agencies will mobilize tribal youth and conduct residential training programs, creating a conducive learning environment for the candidates. Apart from the domain knowledge of two job roles, the content and curriculum will include employability skills, financial and digital literacy, and entrepreneurship modules giving the candidate a holistic exposure to the world of jobs.
Grameen Udhyami seeks to provide handholding and mentoring support post-training through regional facilitation centers which will create linkages and boost the current operations of Self Help Groups, Farmer Producer Organizations, and other micro-entrepreneurs."
